Who we are:

We are a new, growing, non-profit in upstate South Carolina dedicated to long term efforts in conservation and improving quality of life in the upstate.  The seeds for the Tyger River Foundation were sewn in the summer of 2001 in connection with discussions with the county about establishing Greenways along the North Tyger and other places.  In the summer of 2005, an effort to acquire and restore Anderson Mill  was initiated which lead to the formation of The Tyger River Foundation in the fall of 2007.  Our mission is to promote, protect and restore the natural and historic resources of the Tyger River Basin and encourage an active outdoor lifestyle”.  We think history and the outdoors are vital to our mental and physical well being as a society.  Our approximate operating area is the entire Tyger River basin which extends from above SC Highway 11 in Greenville County through Spartanburg and Union Counties to where the Tyger River joins the Broad River.  Our organizational structure consists of a board of directors, an advisory committee and project committees operating under the direction of the board.  We are an independent organization but partner with many local organizations including SJWD Water District,  Upstate Forever, The City of Greer Parks and Recreation, The Town of Lyman, and others.  TRF was formed to address the void in our operating area of a local, unifying organization with our mission.  We are participating in several local projects and will eventually expand throughout our operating area.  If you share our mission, we welcome your support and participation!
