2015

  • Hub City Hog Fest - April 17th-18th:  Join members of The Tyger River Foundation as they participate in the annual Hub City Hog Fest barbeque competition to benefit Mobile Meals of Spartanburg.
  • Discover Your Watershed - April 18th:  Paddle, play, and learn about the Tyger River watershed! This program is designed to raise awareness about the importance of safeguarding our water resources for future generations.
  • Tame the Tyger - April 25th:  Kick off the return of spring with Spartanburg County's legendary river race and festival.
  • Fish the Tyger - May 16th:  The annual Fish the Tyger event returns to the Tyger-10 Nature Park! Bring the family out for the second annual fishing day & demo.

2014

The Tyger River Foundation is excited to announce the first Fish the Tyger event to be held May 31st from 11 am - 3 pm. We invite you and your family to join us at the Tyger 10 Park and Nature Center for fishing, demonstrations, and much more.
 
 
It's time for the 2014 Tame the Tyger River Race and Festival! The annual event will take place Saturday, April 12th. Participants can race or float a portion of the Tyger River.
All participants and spectators are invited to enjoy live music, BBQ, boat demos, and more at the finish. Visit SpartanburgParks.org or TygerRiver.org for more details.  

 

We invite everyone to join us at the Hub City Hog Fest 2014 on March 28th & 29th in Downtown Spartanburg's Grain District. The event will benefit Mobile Meals and The Tyger River Foundation will be participating in the barbeque competition. Please stop by and visit our team! 2013

Come "Trail the Tyger" with the Tyger River Foundation on Sunday, December 1st from 12 - 4pm. Join Master Naturalist, Dan Whitten, and the Tyger River Foundation Board of Directors as we walk the Tyger 10 Nature Center Trails.  Please visit our store to purchase individual, couples, or family tickets. We look forward to seeing you December 1st!

 

Please join The Tyger River Foundation during Art Walk on October 17th from 5:00-9:00 pm for the debut of an original painting of the Historic Anderson Mill by local artist Garry Turpin. The event will take place at the Spartanburg History Museum located in the Chapman Cultural Center.

 

The Fall river sweep will take place on Saturday, October 12th from 9 am until noon along the South Tyger River. Volunteers are needed to help clean up the new access area Berry's Shoal Pond. Details are provided here: Tyger River Sweep Oct 2013.

 

 An Old Bridge Along Anderson Mill Road Will Become a New Pedestrian Walkway

The Tyger River Foundation has obtained grant funding to transform an old bridge along Anderson Mill Road into a pedestrian walkway overlooking the historic mill. Read more.


Rudy Mancke, host of the award-winning television series NatureScene and founder of the South Carolina Association of Naturalists (SCAN), recently posted a one-minute podcast about Tyger-10 Nature Park and the work of the Tyger River Foundation. Click to listen.

 

The 2013 Discover Your Watershed event will be held Saturday, May 18th from 10am - 3pm at Lyman Lake. Paddle, play, and learn all about the Tyger River Watershed. Kayak-based lake tours, educational exhibits, and guided wetland walks will highlight this program designed to raise awareness about the importance of safeguarding our water resources for future generations. The Spring Tyger River Sweep will take place Friday, May 17th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at Berry's Pond on the South Tyger River. Details are provided here: Berry's Pond Sweep.   

 

A clean-up party will be held at 5:30 pm on Thursday May 9th at the Anderson Mill. We need volunteers for weed-eating and trash pick-up. If you would like to attend, please email us at info@tygerriver.org to sign up. We hope to see you there!

 

The Tame the Tyger River Race & Festival will be Saturday, April 6th beginning at 10 am. Recreational floats and downriver races will be the highlight of this kickoff to spring. The next Tyger River Sweep will take place on Saturday, March 23rd from 9 am to Noon. Details are provided here: Spring 2013 Tyger River Sweep. All volunteers are welcome. We look forward to seeing you there! 

2012

The official Grand Opening of the Tyger-10 Park was celebrated Sunday, November 25th. The highlight of the event was a nature walk along the grounds of the park with naturalist and Spartanburg native Rudy Mancke. DNR visited the Tyger-10 Park for fish sampling and identification in early October. Take a look at the team and some of their results in the Image Gallery. Those in attendance also had the added bonus of seeing a bald eagle flying overhead.

 

Join us for the Tyger River Sweep on Saturday, September 22, 2012 from 9:00 AM to Noon. Volunteers are needed to help clean up a portion of the Tyger River. Land and water-based sweeps will take place. Details are provided here: Tyger River Sweep Flyer.
