Tyger River

The Tyger River Foundation

The Tyger River Basin contains 51% of Spartanburg County's population, 48% of the County's area and 62% of the population of the City of Spartanburg.

Who We Are

The Tyger River Foundation is a Spartanburg-based non-profit dedicated to long-term conservation efforts within the Tyger River Basin and to improving quality of life in the Upstate. Our mission is to promote, protect and restore the natural and historic resources of the Tyger River Basin and encourage an active outdoor lifestyle.

The Foundation was formed to address a void in our operating area of a local, unified organization with our mission. A group of concerned citizens took on the challenge and established the Tyger River Foundation in 2007. The  Foundation brings a focused, long-term vision and sustainable plan to protect, promote and restore the Tyger River Basin for public use and enjoyment. The Foundation's efforts protect and conserve land within the Tyger River Basin, increase opportunities for healthy, active living and boost Spartanburg's economic engine through tourism.
